Dear Friends and Family, it is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of William (Willie/Bill) Lewis Wheatley on Saturday March 16, 2024, at Christ Hospital’s Hospice of Cincinnati, 6 days shy of his 86th birthday. His arrival into this world was on March 22, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Joseph and Lora Wheatley.
He met the love of his life (Fay) at a Dave Brubeck/Gerry Mulligan concert in 1955. They married on April 20, 1957. Their life-long partnership produced 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He had a proud 40-year career as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service and retired in 1999.
He enjoyed traveling, family and playing golf after retirement. His favorite trip was an Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver Canada with his wife and best friends Dale and June Lister. His life was spent devoted to his family and increasing his Christian faith. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and his passion for life.
William Wheatley is survived by his wife Fay (nee Simpson), son Michael, daughters Cathy (Tim) Fessler and Lisa (Scott) Baechle, grandchildren Mandy (Bill) Sefton, Justin (Laura) Roth, April (Cody) Pegg, Brandon (Angie) Roth, Matthew (Kristen) Fessler, his great grandchildren, Courtney Keith, Taylor, Bailey and Colton Sefton and our newest family member Evelyn Patricia Roth. He is also survived by lifelong best friend, Dale Lister and many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Pierce Point Community Church 1300 White Oak Rd., Amelia, OH 45102 on Saturday March 23, 2024, at 1 p.m. with lunch following for all. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
