Walter J. Boekley Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2022, in Kenton Hills, KY surrounded by his loved ones.
Walter was born in Newport, KY on November 18, 1938. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1956 and John Carroll University in 1969. He was also a member of the US Army. After meeting on a blind date, he married his beloved wife, Donna (Mihevic) Boekley, on February 10, 1968, at St. Vitus Church in Cleveland, OH. Shortly after they married, Walter and Donna returned back to Northern Kentucky.
Walter spent a few years at the Formica Company, and then moved on to the Kentucky Post where he spent most of his career. In 1993, Walter and Donna moved to Ft. Myers, FL where they ran a successful business until they retired in 2008.
Walter’s most rewarding role in life was being a husband, father, and grandfather. He never missed a dance recital, cheerleading competition, or sporting event. You could always hear him cheering in the stands with a smile on his face, and so proud of his family.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, raising his daughter, and loving on his grandchildren. His family meant the world to him, and they knew it. Walter also loved sports! He loved to cheer on the Kentucky Wildcats and root for the Cincinnati Reds. If there was a game on, he would be watching it!
Walter was preceded in death by his parents Walter Sr. and Regina (Andrea) Boekley and his granddaughter Logan Elizabeth Esposito. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna (Mihevic) Boekley, his daughter Laura (Boekley) Esposito (Patrick Demkovich), and his grandchildren Drew and Chloe Esposito.
All services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cardiology Fellowship established by Walter and Donna at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in honor of their granddaughter Logan Elizabeth Esposito.
