Wally Shaffer, age 73, passed away peacefully after a brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna (nee Veeneman). He left three children to continue his mighty legacy, Erica Monahan (Kevin), Wally and Erin (Alice). He has six beautiful grandchildren to carry on his memory: Caitlyn, Caroline, Ellie, Max, Evan, and Zachary.
Wally was born March 2, 1948, to the late Wally and Marge Shaffer. He grew up in a large and loving family, survived by siblings:Β Gary (Barb), Scott, Tina, and Bruce (Catherine). Not enough ink to name all his nieces, nephews, and extended family, but he loved them all.
Wally attended Guardian Angels and McNicholas High School. Following high school, he proudly served in the Unites States Air Force. On his return, he attended the University of Cincinnati. He worked at Salem Hardware with his father for years.
Generous with his time and talents, Wally loved to be with family and friends while capturing all these memories in pictures. He loved Christmas, tinkering with his Christmas lights, swimming, and coloring with his grandchildren. But his favorite time was spent at Barbee Lake fishing with the family. One thing is for sure, you could count on a good laugh if you were with him.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 6th from 9:30-10:30 immediately followed by a Mass at Guardian Angels, 6531 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45230.
