Sam Feder left this plane of existence on Friday, January 22nd. He can now be found sailing on the wine dark sea, in company with his dear companions, Snowflake, Clancy, and New River. Sam leaves behind his deeply loved wife of 46 years, Peg Fay-Feder, and two sons of his heart, David Noe and Greg Tobias. His evenings are no doubt spent drinking good wine and working on cars, or sitting with friends, exchanging stories about life’s adventures.
Sam was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1935, to Jake Feder and Evelyn {Kaplan} Feder. He graduated from the University of Toledo, and spent some years in the Army commanding tanks, including in Korea, after the official shooting stopped. Sam worked at Champion Spark Plug, in the development lab, before marrying Peg and moving to Cincinnati.
In Cincinnati, Sam was a founding member of the Midwest chapter of ASHI – the American Society of Home Inspectors. This was a career that fit his attention to detail and ability to figure things out – a bit like Sherlock Holmes in the detective stories he liked to read, along with car magazines and history books. He enjoyed life and being with his friends. In the end his body just wore out.
A brief private ceremony and Masonic funeral will be held at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home and Crematorium. The grand, Irish style wake he long spoke of, will be held either in the fall or next spring. No flowers please. Memorial contributions may be made on-line via the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital website or by mail to: Shriners Hospitals for Children — Cincinnati Attn: Development Department 3229 Burnet Avenue Cincinnati, OH 45229.
