Maria Gosmeyer, age 97, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at SEM Haven in Milford Ohio. Born in Berchtesgaden, Germany on September 13, 1926, the loving daughter of Michael and Gertraud Eder Lochner, she lived a life full of faith, love, family, and friends. She came to the United States with her daughter, Eleanor in 1955. There she met the love of her life, Joseph Gosmeyer. Joe and Maria were married in Saylor Park, Ohio on November 27, 1959. Maria enjoyed skiing, gardening and hiking in her earlier years – anything to do with nature. But her favorite pastime was spending time with her friends and family.
Joe preceded her in death on April 11, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers Franz (Lena) Lochner, Michael (Frieda) (Irmi) Lochner, and Anton (Katie) Lochner; sisters Anna (Andreas) Bernegger, Gertraud (Michael) Fendt, Barbl (Michael) Fegg, and Lisl (Rudi) Kracher; brothers-in-law Roy Girten, Joe Sinnard and Tom Gosmeyer. Maria is survived and will be missed by her daughter Eleanor (Robert) Lamb, and son Michael (Marie) Gosmeyer; grandchildren Maggie (Brandon Maclachlan) Lamb, Rachel (Lee Swinegar) Lamb, Edward Lamb, Catherine Gosmeyer (Tim) Rose, Matthew (Jess Dye) Gosmeyer, Daniel (Gypsy) Gosmeyer, Nicholas Gosmeyer, and James Gosmeyer; great grandchildren Liberty Lamb, Clara Rose, and Henry Rose; loving sisters-in-law Betty Girten, Sally Gosmeyer, and Judy Sinnard; and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany and the United States.
Maria will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who truly loved life.
Rest in peace, Oma.
