Lawrence Richard Jacobs was born February 6, 1924 to Floyd and Nancy Jacobs of Brown County, Ohio. He passed away February 4, 2021 at 96 years of age, just 2 days shy of turning 97. He was one of 4 boys: Carl, James, Lawrence and Ora. Lawrence and Jim were reared by their Uncle Clint Sroufe and Grandmother Flora Sroufe. He was a farm boy, born and raised; hard-working and proud of being from Mt. Orab, OH.He was a veteran and honorably served in the U.S. Army in 1948/1949 while stationed in Texas, then transferred to the Army Reserves.
He married on Thanksgiving Day in November 1952. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Nora Gray Adams Jacobs and 3 children: Glenn Jacobs of Cincinnati, Ohio, Paul Jacobs of Westminster, CO and Ellen Jacobs Kanerva (Robert) of Union, KY. He leaves 3 grandchildren: Jennifer Howard (Alejandro) of Harlingen, TX, Kyle Jacobs of Oceanside, CA and Jason Jacobs of Westminster, CO. He also leaves 2 great-grandsons: Jack Jacobs and Octavio Lopez-Howard. And many nieces, nephews and their families.
He worked at Container Corporation of America for the best part of his working career, being a die maker and cutter. He retired, moving from Ohio to California, then Tennessee and finally Kentucky, to be nearer to family. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sevierville, TN giving of his time, talent and treasure to their Television Ministry for many years. These were some of the happiest years of his life.
A celebration of his life will be held at a future date. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and interred at Knoxville National Cemetery in his beloved Tennessee.
