Julia (Doozie) Alyson Everett October 18, 1955 - August 13, 2022

Julia (Doozie) Alyson Everett (nee O’Brien), 66, died on August 13, 2022. Julia received the moniker “Doozie” from her neighbor, Miner Raymond III. He met her when she was born and exclaimed, “she’s a Doozie”. Julia is an inspiration to all.

Julia was born to her beloved parents, the Betty & Bob O’Brien, on October 18, 1955. Julia was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes, Type 1 at the age of eleven. For 55 years she coped with the disease. Julia was a remarkable woman. In spite of multiple medical issues during her life, she never complained. She accepted life as it came. She was intrepid. Julia was on Dialysis in 1981 due to kidney failure. Family members were tested for potential kidney donors. Her eldest sister, Lois was a perfect match and in September 1981, donated her kidney to her sister. Dr. Roy First performed the transplant at the University Hospital. Lois’ kidney saved Julia’s life for 41 years. Lois died of cancer in 2014 but her kidney lived on with Julia.

Julia is a 1973 graduate of Marian High School and in 1977, she graduated from The College of Mt. St. Joseph with a B.A.in Art Education. After graduating, Julia taught art at St. Ursula Academy and the Summit Country Day School. Julia was an exceptional artist and continued to draw and paint in spite of failing vision. She adored and communicated well with children.

Julia is survived by her husband, Fred Everett and son, Alex Everett, siblings Ann Vargo (David), Mary Pat Master (Doug) and Tom O’Brien. Julia also had a large number in her extended family and many friends. Julia loved her family, friends, children, animals, Ireland and sporting events.  Her special pets were Reagan and Duffy, miniature poodles.  She was passionate about XU basketball and the Cincinnati Reds, especially Jonathan India.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lois Mosteller and Karen Raymond.

Dear Ann, Mary Pat, and Tom,

My deepest condolences on the passing of Doozie. What a remarkable and courageous woman who obviously did not allow anything to hinder her from accomplishing her goals and enjoying life. She taught me how to make the best pancakes during our many overnights spent at the O”Brien house. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
