James R. Haas passed away peacefully at the Seasons in Alexandria on 10/8/2024 at the age of 94. He was born and raised in Ft. Thomas, Ky., later moving to his farm in California, Ky. He loved nature, being outdoors fishing and hunting as much as he could. He also played and loved sports, especially Highland’s football and U.K. basketball. He played football at Highlands and rarely missed a game well into his 80’s. He enjoyed working on his farm and was on his tractor raking hay last summer. Jim worked at his family business founded by his grandfather, National Band and Tag Company and Hasco Tag Company, for over 60 years. But first and foremost, he loved his wife of nearly 73 years and his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children: Connie Reinert (Larry), Randy Haas, Cathy Garrett (Pete), Karin McCormick (Ron), Kimberly Tromm and grandchildren: Dan Garrett, Ryan Tromm and Katelyn Piercefield (Jackson) and great grandchild, Colin Piercefield.
