George (Georgie) Dayton Merritt was born 9:53 am on August, 4, 1979 at St. Luke Hospital and left this world at 8:08 pm on January 2, 2017.
The day he was born he was immediately transferred to Children’s Hospital, One South, Intensive Care Unit.
The Supreme Being tested us through many major operations for over 117 days and on Thanksgiving Day He decided that we were to be given the job of Parents.
Thirty seven years later, after giving us an imperfect baby, who grew up to be a perfect man who evolved into an Angel, Our Angel, the Supreme Being took him back at 8:08 pm on January 2, 2017 while in the University of Cincinnati’s Medical Intensive Care Unit. The Nurses, Doctors, Chaplin and one Doctor in particular for her wonderful care to my wife, the Supreme Being will smile upon all of you.
How beautiful a testament. The Supreme Being created the Earth in 7 days and took our Angel back in 7 days. But not before giving us the gift of unconditional love and the perfect Angel to guide us. Georgie raised me, an imperfect man, and made me the richest man in the World. Georgie was his mother’s baby from the moment he was born and always will be.
Our darling Georgie, we will see you soon. – Mom and Dad
Although no siblings, Georgie was loved by many Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. Through his journey he had a huge effect on many people even though we did not see it. Georgie is known by many names all special in their own way. Georgie is Maw Maw’s Sugar Pots, Paw Paw’s Pistol, Granny’s Pooter, Boozer’s Yahtzee and Roach Eye’s Waldo.
Georgie was the most challenging, beloved precious gift to his mom and dad; Mary Jo and George Merritt. Georgie was a happy boy who grew into a young, loving man. When he laughed his entire face would light up. At times he would laugh so hard he cried. He loved talking on the phone, riding the bus, watching Barney, Wheel of Fortune and singing the Jeopardy song. But above all he loved arguing with his Daddy or lying in bed with his Mommy playing footsie.
For 37 years Georgie is and always will be his parents cherished and “their only baby!”
His work is done on this Earth; leaving his footprint wherever he went. He is now with his two Grandma’s; sitting on their laps talking trash and singing songs.
Georgie leaves behind his devoted parents, many aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends. The twinkle in Georgie’s eyes and his Elvis smile will always be in our hearts and minds.
We will love and miss you forever. Visitation will be held at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, KY on Saturday, January 14th from 1 pm until the time of service at 2:30 pm.
