Dr. Daniel C. “Dan”, age 50, Dan was the devoted son of Mary Lou Nutzel and Carl Nutzel (deceased), loving brother of Vickie Rebholz (Joe) and Karen Tracy (Guy), awesome uncle to Chris (Sarah), Lori (Brian), Justin (Amanda), Jill (Ben), Julie and Alex, great uncle to Brady, Blake, Kellan, Madi, Zach, Dominic, Sophia, Aubrey, and Emma and a great friend to many. He will sorely missed. He was an associate professor of German, the Hoyt-Reichmann Chair in German American Studies and the director of the Max Kade Center for German-American Studies at the Indiana/Purdue University in Indianapolis. He was a graduate of Xavier University, Cincinnati University and Purdue University. During this time he won many scholarships, including 2 Fulbrights, studied at the Sorbonne, University of Hamburg and the University of Salzburg. Dan spent most of his adult life living and teaching in Germany. Memorials may be made to the Max Kade Center at IUPUI or Xavier University. Visitation will be held Friday, April 19 from 9AM until 11:30 AM at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Cold Spring, Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring
