David L. Whitley, died at his home in Cincinnati on Jan.
21. in the early morning hours during
an ice storm. He was born in New Orleans to Harold T. Whitley of New Orleans and
Anita Colbert Whitley of Ackerman Mississippi on the first day of Spring 1942. He grew up in Jackson Mississippi. He attended Luling School and was graduated
from Murrah High School. In 1960 he entered the United States Air Force Academy
in Colorado Springs. He finished his college years at the University of
Mississippi at Oxford. After Ole Miss he married Linda McCormick of Forrest
Mississippi. Their marriage ended in divorce. He spent 6 years in the Air Force
during the Viet Nam war. Flying as a Captain in the Military Air Command.
He went to work for Delta Air lines and
retired 30 years later as a Captain flying MD11’s He is survived by his beloved
wife of 36 years–Joanne Brennan Whitley of Miami Florida. His brother Donald
of Denver. CO., Robert of Jackson, Ms., and his Sister Anita Moynihan of Delray
Beach, Fl. Memorial donations may be made in David’s name to the Southern
Poverty Law Center,400 Washington Ave. Montgomery AL. 36104. Interment will be private.
