Lisa Elaine Smythe, 59, born on September 16, 1965, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Elaine Ritter and the late Paul Ritter, passed peacefully from this earth into the arms of her Savior on December 17, 2024. She was surrounded with love and is survived by her mother, Elaine, her sister, Julie Ciulla and Julie’s husband John, their two sons, John and Joshua, her brother Stephen Ritter and his wife Shannon.
Lisa graduated from Xavier-Edgecliff College and pursued a career as an art teacher, then later answered a call to a position with Tri-Health Hospice of Cincinnati where she trained and encouraged hospice volunteers. She served this calling with deep passion and compassion, not knowing that one day she would personally receive their services.
Her gift of creativity was always underscoring everything she did, including volunteering with Wings of Worship Ministry. Not limited to artistic ability, Lisa had excellent organizational and leadership skills that were effective in whatever opportunity presented itself. To enhance the call on her life, Lisa became an ordained chaplain with International Fellowship of Chaplains.
Lisa’s first passion was her faith, followed by compassion for others. While art and all things art-related were a huge part of her life, love of dogs was high on her list of “favorite things”. Dogs, any dog, could bring forth a surge of joy and laughter to Lisa. In fact, life itself had a way of tapping into her heart and brought forth a contagious love-filled joy that touched the lives of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Lisa at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2024, at Crossroads East Side Chapel – 4450 Eastgate S Dr. – Cincinnati, OH 45245. A gathering will occur just prior from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

January 9, 2025 at 10:41 pmI’m so sorry for your loss, but heaven definitely gained a beautiful angel! I knew Lisa from Provisions where my dad lives, and she was one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met. I miss seeing her happy smiling face there.
