William Charles Partin (Bill or Wild Bill), of Cincinnati, Ohio, died on September 7, 2023, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness. He was born September 3, 1943, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to WJ and Elizabeth LaRue Partin. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Barbara Wagner, their daughter, Sally Wagner Partin (and her husband, Greg Neukirchner, and their two children, Barbara Maeve and William) and their son, William Robert Partin (and his wife, Ashley (Holm) Partin and their daughter Fiona). He was predeceased by a half-sister Pat Helton.
Bill graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1973 and received a master’s in International Affairs from Boston University in 1977. He served in the US Army a total of 14 years, during the period from 1961 to 1978, including four tours in Vietnam, during which he earned two Silver Stars, four Bronze Stars (two with “V” device), and six purple hearts. Bill was quiet about his service achievements and focused instead on his love of fishing with his children, gardening, cooking for family and friends, storytelling, antiquing with Barbara, crossword puzzles, and billiards.
Bill’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Fares J. Radel Funeral Home-Kellogg. The service begins at 11am and family will be present to greet friends and relatives, beginning at 10am.
Several months ago, we started collecting reminiscences about Bill to save and share with his grandchildren. He made a difference in so many people’s lives and will be dearly missed. We welcome submission of additional anecdotes and stories about Bill. They can be sent to billpartinmemories@gmail.com.
