Mary Bush passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 11th at the age of 89. Mary was born in 1932, raised in Ireland and came to the United States in 1953 after meeting and marrying James Nelson Bush (1932-2003). They quickly had four children within four years including twins and her life was defined by these four, 12 years later they added the “baby” – Gordon to the mix. Mary leaves behind her five children, Cynthia Focke, (John) Linda Henn, (Chris), Jim (Iris), Pam Watson and Gordon, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Mary was a voracious reader and loved playing games, especially word games. Dementia plagued her for the past three years and she struggled to find the right words. Her wit and sense of humor were present until the very end. She loved her large family and getting together with them brought her great joy. Mary worked hard all her life right up until she left City Dash when she was over 70. Mary defined frugal and stretched a penny far. She loved thrift shopping and being thrifty. She was an active member of Bond Hill Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Her faith got her through difficult times. Her strong character and integrity were a blessing and a gift to her family. She is now in the Lord’s hand and reunited with her husband.
A service to honor and celebrate Mary will be held on Friday, March 18th at 6:00 PM at Movement Church 736 Monroe St. Newport, KY with a reception to follow. Please join us to celebrate Mary.
