Gordon F. Smith (Rick/Smitty) passed away with family at his side on September 24, 2021, in Alexandria Kentucky at the age of 90. He was born on August 12, 1931, to the late Harry and Euphemia Smith in East Orange, New Jersey. Gordon attended Allendale School in Rochester, New York, graduating in 1950. Gordon was a proud member of the United States Army and graduated with his master’s in education from Indiana University. He worked as an educator and varsity sports coach at his alma mater Harley Allendale Columbia School for over 30 years, before retiring to Kentucky in 1993. Prior to retiring, Gordon was active in the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department, Farmington Friends Church, and later in his Homeowners Association in Cold Spring Kentucky. He is survived by his wife of over 62 years Ruth (Sam), their three sons, Todd (Elizabeth), Stuart (Amy) and Mitchell (Rachel), five grandsons, and three great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to local veteran outreach programs.
