William Howard “Bill” Vale, 72 of Newport passed away March 19, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Bill was born in East Liverpool, Ohio to William Ely Vale and Dolores Riggs Vale on August 8, 1946. A lifelong resident of Columbiana, Ohio until retirement. Bill attended elementary, junior high and graduated from high school in East Liverpool. He made tracks to Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana returning home to attend Kent State University in Salem, Ohio where he received a degree in civil engineering. Bill worked for Woomers Brother’s Lumber in his youth to early twenties then went to work for the State of Ohio Department of Highways during college and then onto engineer in training until the late 60’s. Bill worked for a time with Michael Baker, Jr, Bridgewater Pennsylvania highway designers and estimator. Bill worked for the late Harry Lev of Lev Construction in Mohoning Ohio for over twenty years. With these company’s Bill was able to travel from North to South, East to West, all across the United States, building hotel’s, motel’s, home’s, remodeling mall’s, Outback Steakhouses and Miller Bar in Charlottesville, Virginia. Bill was a true fan of Waylon Jennings with all of the open highway, Bill would say if Waylon was playing on the radio he would own a ticket. In his later year’s he was an OSHA certified inspector. Bill enjoyed running heavy equipment or “playing in the dirt” as he would say and could still be a kid at heart! He loved big block motors of Ford’s. He could talk hours on the subject and was a storehouse of information. Bill is known by many names but the best are beloved husband, great dad, awesome pap-paw, Billy, Bill, Cowboy, Brother and Uncle. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Marc William Vale. He will be sadly missed by all. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Debra Watson Vale, was a great Dad to his children Jamie (Bob) Corey, Candice (Michael) Kuntz, Wayne (Margaux) Watson and Sherry Vale and an awesome pap-paw to Jacob Chamberlain, Brienna Corey, Gabriel Corey, Ridge Watson, Tess Watson, Viviann Watson, Emmett Kuntz and Eli Kuntz. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn (John) Stepien and uncle to a wonderful niece Valerie Stepien. Bill will be laid to rest Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 1pm at the chapel at East Carmel Cemetery in Rogers, Ohio. A life celebration luncheon will follow at the Rogers Hall.
