Charles (Charlie) R. Parris, 71, of Taylor Mill, KY passed away September 29, 2015. A 1961 graduate of Dixie Heights High School, his ambition “To be successful in whatever I do”, was a testament to how he lived. Charles graduated with a B.S. from EKU in 1967 and with a M.A. from WKU in 1968. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1968-1969 and worked as a Locomotive Engineer for Louisville & Nashville Railroad and then as the owner/operator of Special Dispatch in the years following. One of his finest accomplishments was serving as General Manager for InRETURN, where he was able to help individuals with neurological injury, disease, or disorder regain their independence. Charles was a champion diver and coach for EKU, WKU, and the Quantico Devil Dolphins. He is remembered by friends for diving off the Central Bridge into the OH River in July 1963. A master at the art of asking questions, Charles was a great conversationalist, lifelong learner and philosophizer. He was a loving father, friend, teacher and coach as well as a proud member of the Howdy Boys Motorcycle Club and an active member of Madison Avenue Christian Church (MACC). He is survived by his son, Lance Parris (Jenny)– Ft. Thomas, KY; daughter, Shawnee Schauff (Andy)-Taylor Mill, KY; grandchildren, Colt, Addie, and Libby and sister, Elizabeth McDougall – Edgewood, KY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Madison Avenue Christian Church (MACC) 1530 Madison Avenue, Covington, KY on Friday, October 23, 2015. Visitation 4:30PM; service 5:30PM; reception immediately following in Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to MACC Community Dinners at the service or by visiting mchurch.com/contribute.
