Dorothy Ann Miller, 89 years old, passed away peacefully on July 18, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother, her family’s “first responder” when emotional support or morale boosting was needed. Throughout her life, she was the best of role models for her family. She will be remembered for her resilient and upbeat outlook on life and for her young-at-heart personality. Her sense of humor and an ability to connect with people of all ages and interests earned her many friends. Dorothy will also be remembered as a gifted landscape artist, a talent she revisited later in her life.
Dorothy’s demure personality and pretty face hid a tough inner strength. When life presented a need for change, she plunged forward. After being a skilled home maker and stay-at-home Mom for over 25 years, she re-entered the work force in 1972 and was a valued employee in Richmond, Indiana for the next two decades. While employed at Phillips Recording Company (formerly Mercury Records) and later, at Tom Raper RV Sales, she demonstrated her ability to navigate the business world. Dorothy moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1993 to be closer to her family. She resided at the Anderson Nursing Home since 2008 after experiencing complications from a stroke.
Dorothy is survived by her four children and their families: Barry and Nancy Miller in Lexington, KY, Barbara and John (Mick) Sears in Denver, CO, Shelley and Lon Dear in Cincinnati, OH, and Kevin Scott Miller in Nashville, TN. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Heidi Rowland, Bailey and Megan Dear, Ramsie and Caden Miller and one sister: Mrs. Martha Ervin of Muncie, Indiana.
A memorial for Dorothy will be held on August 9 from 1- 4 pm at Fares Radel Funeral Home in Cincinnati, Ohio, 5950 Kellogg Avenue (at I-275). For directions, call (513) 231-2000 or access their website: farestransfer3.wpengine.com.
